The Illinois Amateur Wrestling Association The Illinois Amateur Wrestling Association (IAWA) was organized though the efforts of USA Wrestling (USAW) and key volunteers in Illinois to develop, foster and coordinate amateur wrestling activities in the state of Illinois through a united effort under USA Wrestling sanction. USA Wrestling is the National Governing Body for the Sport of Wrestling in the United States and, as such, is its representative to the United States Olympic Committee (USOC) and the International Wrestling Federation (FILA). The IAWA's purpose is to be the central coordinating body for USAW sanctioned activities in the state of Illinois. The IAWA, while still in the development stages, will eventually become the USAW recognized affiliate organization in Illinois. The IAWA organizational structure will be composed of all wrestling entities in Illinois who wish to become a part of the organization and USAW.
